Plagiarism Screening & AI Policy

Jurnal Ilmu Manajemen dan Pendidikan is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and does not tolerate plagiarism, self-plagiarism, duplicate publication, or any other form of unethical publication practice. All submitted manuscripts are subject to plagiarism screening using Turnitin and, where necessary, additional editorial checks against published and publicly available sources.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts are original and that all ideas, statements, data, and words derived from other sources are properly acknowledged through appropriate citation and quotation. Authors must not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously or publish substantially overlapping research in multiple publications without appropriate justification and disclosure.

The editorial board conducts plagiarism screening at two stages: (1) during the initial submission and editorial screening and (2) after the peer-review and revision process, before publication. Manuscripts that contain substantial plagiarism or other forms of unacceptable textual overlap may be rejected at any stage of the editorial and publication process.

Similarity Threshold

The journal applies a maximum similarity threshold of 20% at the submission stage and 15% before publication. Similarity scores are used as an editorial screening indicator and are interpreted contextually. Properly cited quotations, references, bibliographic entries, common phrases, methodological terminology, and other legitimate textual similarities may be excluded or considered separately during editorial assessment. A similarity score below the threshold does not automatically establish originality, while a score above the threshold does not automatically constitute plagiarism.

Jurnal Ilmu Manajemen dan Pendidikan recognizes that generative artificial intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted tools may support authors in certain aspects of manuscript preparation. However, the use of such tools must not compromise the originality, academic integrity, transparency, confidentiality, or accountability of scholarly work. Authors remain fully responsible for the content, accuracy, originality, interpretation, and ethical integrity of their manuscripts.

Permitted Use of AI Tools

Authors may use AI-assisted tools for limited purposes such as language improvement, grammar and spelling correction, translation, formatting assistance, brainstorming, and preliminary organizational support. Any AI-assisted output must be critically reviewed, fact-checked, revised, and validated by the authors before submission.

Prohibited Use of AI Tools

• Generating or fabricating research data, findings, references, citations, or other scholarly evidence.
• Generating substantive academic arguments, interpretations, or conclusions without meaningful intellectual contribution and verification by the authors.
• Using AI-generated content to misrepresent the authors' original intellectual contribution.
• Using AI tools to manipulate, falsify, or conceal research results.
• Uploading confidential manuscripts, unpublished research materials, personal data, reviewer comments, or other restricted information to AI systems without appropriate authorization.
• Using AI tools in a manner that violates copyright, privacy, research ethics, or publication ethics.

AI Disclosure and Transparency

Authors must disclose the use of generative AI or AI-assisted tools when such tools have been used in the preparation of the manuscript beyond routine spelling or grammar correction. The disclosure should identify the name of the AI tool, its purpose, and the nature of its use. AI tools must not be listed as authors or co-authors because they cannot assume responsibility or accountability for the submitted work.

Example of AI Disclosure Statement

"Generative AI was used in the preparation of this manuscript for [specify purpose, e.g., language editing and improving clarity]. All AI-assisted output was critically reviewed, revised, and verified by the authors. The authors take full responsibility for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of the final manuscript."

Editorial Assessment and AI Detection

The editorial board may use available technological tools and editorial assessment to identify potentially inappropriate use of AI-generated content. AI-detection results are considered supporting indicators rather than definitive evidence of misconduct. Any suspected violation will be assessed in context and may involve further clarification from the authors before an editorial decision is made.

Consequences of Violation

Failure to comply with this policy may constitute a violation of publication ethics. Depending on the nature and severity of the violation, the journal may request clarification or correction, reject the manuscript, suspend the editorial process, retract a published article, or report serious cases to the author's affiliated institution or other relevant authorities.
